Famous Georgian development company “Iberia” (who had announced contest to reveal the best projects to launch the outer Avlabari development) now awarded winners.
As the architect, the head of the division of the city, planning of urban planning municipal department-Demeter Mosiashvili said: “8 projects were submitted to the contest and youth actively took part in it.”
The aim of this contest is to reconstruct the old and very important part of Tbilisi-outer Avlabari (The area is located in the high part of Tbilisi, on the left bank of the Mtkvari and it is significant integral of Tbilisi). This part is in the process of degradation and looks forward to reconstruction. The winner project should make tough surface for reconstruction and development of lands in this area.
The members of Jury were : Mamuka Akhvlediani, the Vice-Mayor of Tbilisi , Ramaz Mosashvili-the founder of the joint stock company “ Iberia real estate”, Nikoloz Vacheishvili -the Minister of Monuments Protection and Sports; Vakhtang Lezhava,-the first deputy minister of economical development, Giga Batiashvili-the architect, academician, the head of the authorized group of the project “ Old Tbilisi” detailed planning; Manuchar Makhatadze-Tbilisi main architect; Lasha Purtskhvanidze- the administrator of old Tbilisi region and others.
Iberia Real Estate by the agreement with Ministry of culture , Monumental Protection and Sport and Service of Urban Projects of Tbilisi City Hall, awarded the 1st place winners -Zurab Barbaqadze, Luka Barbaqadze and Katerina Ianke by 10 000 GEL; the second place was awarded to Aleksandre Mefarishvili and Gvantsa Nikoleishvili, who received prizes of 6,000 GEL; as for the third place it was taken by Levan Botkoveli, Mikheil Ramishvili and Gela Kobiashvili who received 4 000 GEL; special deed from the judges was delivered to Mikheil Balashvili and Irakli Meladze who were awarded 2 000 GEL prize.
“The City Heart” will be built in Tbilisi
Constriction of a new “City Heart” complex is commencing in Tbilisi. “The City Heart” will be disposed on the place of “Station Square Fair” and it’ll occupy 1000 000 sq.m. “The City Heart” will be the ultra-modern complex that will contain trade, entertainment, residential and other types of constructions. It is to be built by Tergi, Kolkha, Vartli and other fund.
The official ceremony that included stone-laying was held at the place where “the The City” Heart is due to be built on July 28. The ceremony was attended by the Vice-Mayor of Tbilisi, other members of the government as well as foreign and local businessmen.
Mamuka Akhvlediani-the Vice-Mayor of Tbilisi- mentioned in his speech that the City Heart will be a very important place for Tbilisi, because our city will develop and grow due to it. Not only it will reach highest standards, but it will once again prove that Georgia offers good condition to the businessmen to successfully conduct their business in Georgia and invest in any field, since the business space has been refined and developed. “Georgian and Jewish businessmen offer this new complex to Tbilisi and it proves that our cooperation and friendship continues”-stated the Vice-Mayor.
As the general director of the “City Heart” Mukhran Bagrationi explained: 2500 people will be employed in this project.
“The City Heart” will be constructed and functional in round about 3 years.
The USAID opened new office
The Caucasian mission of the USA international development agency opened a new office due to the celebration of its 15 year partnership with Georgia. “This day is very important indeed, new building is being opened and at the same time the 15 years anniversary of cooperation is celebrated, this cooperation became the bases for many positive changes in Georgia“-stated John Taft, the US ambassador in Georgia.
The official ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Tbilisi and other members of the government as well as by the representatives of USAID.
Gigi Ugulava spoke about the importance of the cooperation of the USAID with Georgia. As he stated: The economical growth, development of agriculture, trade and healthcare are closely linked with the activity of this organization.
“We cooperate with Georgia, we strive to develop social and democratic field, our number one aim is to see the country in peace, without any conflicts, 15 years, this is rather a big period and I think Georgia came up to the achievements“-commented Robert Wilson, the director of Caucasian mission of USAID.
USAID, is actively involved in the process of economical growth of Georgia, reform of business entourage and strengthening of the political parties since 1992, when its first projects envisaged the overcoming of humanitarian crisis took place.
